Pololu IR Beacon

This TI SN754410 motor driver features two H-bridges that can be used for bidirectional control of two DC motors or to control a single stepper motor. It operates from 4.5 to 36 V and can deliver a peak current of 1 A per channel (the continuous current you can deliver depends on how well you can keep the driver IC cool).

Tamiya’s wall-hugging mouse is a fun and easy-to-build kit that’s great for new robot enthusiasts, and it can serve as a unique, hackable robot chassis for more advanced users. The mouse has no digital electronics, and a simple wire bumper along its side directs current to one of two motors to keep the mouse moving along the wall. The mouse features a thin plastic shell and runs on one C battery.

The Line Tracing Snail is an excellent, low-cost robot for a new robotics enthusiast that has no previous experience with robots or electronics. All electronics are completely pre-assembled, and mechanical assembly is very straightforward. The snail has two speeds, and for added fun and entertainment, the eye stalks wiggle back and forth as the robot runs.

Please consider item #1117 as a higher-voltage, lower-current alternative with the same form factor.

The iBOTZ Soundtracker is an autonomous robot that explores its environment with a condenser microphone. If it makes contact with an obstacle or hears a loud noise, it will briefly reverse course and then begin driving again in a new direction.

The iBOTZ Antoid is a unique, beginner-level robot kit that features one of the most basic functions found in autonomous robots: obstacle detection. Powered by two DC motors, the Antoid walks on six legs and avoids bumping into objects by detecting them with an infrared sensor. The robot walks forward until it detects an obstacle, at which point it backs up and turns before resuming its forward gait.

The iBOTZ Hydrazoid is a good beginner robot kit that features the basic robotic action of sound detection. The Hydrazoid robot has four spindly legs and fiber-optic antennas that give this sound-detecting robot a unique, extra-terrestrial look. When the Hydrazoid "hears" a sound with its condenser microphone, its single DC motor activates, and the robot walks forward for about 12 seconds and then stops until it hears another sound.

The iBOTZ Tribotz is a great introductory robot kit that performs three basic robotic functions: line-following, sound sensing, and obstacle avoidance.

The line-tracking mouse is an excellent, low-cost robot for someone who has previous soldering experience and would like to get started with robots. This kit features two independent gearboxes, two printed circuit boards, a plywood base, and a clear, mouse-shaped body.

The Sanyo LB1836M is a great low-voltage dual motor driver (dual H-bridge) that we use in our micro dual serial motor controller and original Orangutan robot controllers. The low-voltage operation and relatively high peak current of 1 A make it an attractive option for those wanting to build small motion control systems powered by one or two Li-based cells or a few NiMH cells.

The GWS PICO Sub-Micro Servo is the smallest GWS servo we carry, and it is the perfect tiny actuator for a small robot mechanism. Even the leads are extra thin to keep weight down.

Suggested replacement: Power HD Mini Servo HD-1160A.

The GWS PARK L Mini Servo would have been considered a micro servo until the recent introduction of extremely tiny servos like the PICO and NARO. This miniature servo has almost the same power as a standard servo, and the transparent case makes it especially well suited for science projects and demonstrations.

The GWS MINI servo is slightly smaller and lighter than a standard servo, but it delivers the performance of a standard servo. Best of all, you get a mini servo at the price of a cheap standard servo.

The GWS S03T STD servo is a standard-sized servo with an extra-high gear ratio that provides almost double the torque of a typical servo. The servo is 4 mm taller than most standard servos.

This product has been replaced by the GWS S689 2BB MG giant-scale servo.

For projects that require brute strength, look no further than the GWS S666N 2BB MG giant-scale servo. This servo will deliver eight times the torque of a standard servo, has two ball bearings, and has metal gears to handle those extra-tough loads.
