    Servo control interface in detail

    - 16 August 2018

    Hi Jan

Many thanks for your clear and well illustrated explanations. I am making the change to digital servos and decided to search for information. Most articles on the web tell half the story at best. Now I understand.

I have one question. How are servo motors driven? As your traces show, the pulses and currents going into the servo are all positive but servos have to move in both directions. Is there a circuit similar to an ESC in the servo, giving phased signals that can be reversed, based on the required position and the current position from feedback? If not how is it done?

    All the best

    Peter
