    Sure, I can share those files with you; I'll make them accessible via Thingiverse. However, this is my first time uploading and publishing a creation on Thingiverse, and they require a minimum wait time of 24 hours between account creation and publishing your first creation. For now, I was able to prepare and save a web page that they will be available at, so when it is published (by about this time tomorrow), I expect that you should be able to use this link to access those files.

    As for your laser-cutting question, I am not sure about the least expensive way to get those pieces cut, but you could use our laser-cutting service (and you can ask them specific questions about laser-cutting, too.).

    Hello.

    Unfortunately, the end caps only work with these new versions of our 37D mm metal gearmotors, which come with a special, pre-installed black plastic ring at the base of the motor that the end cap mounts to. There is no way to use these end caps with the older versions of our 37D mm metal gearmotors with encoders.

    The VNH5019 shield does not work directly with brushless motors. We are not very familiar with SPAL motors, so we are not sure what kind of included circuitry they have. You might ask their manufacturer or someone more familiar with them to see what control solutions they recommend. Alternatively, if you show us some documentation (e.g. a datasheet) for your motors, we might be able to give you a more helpful answer.

    All of the information we have available for those sensors can be found on their product pages, or inside their datasheets. So, everything we know about the Sharp sensor's timing can be found inside its datasheet. In particular, there is a Timing Chart on page 5 of the datasheet, but it looks like it does not help you answer your questions about exactly when this pulse occurs and for how long. For that, you might consider getting one and looking at it with an oscilloscope to try to better characterize it.

    The schematic for that sensor's carrier board can be found on its product page. There is a 10k pull-up resistor on the EN pin. You can also see in the schematic that we label the Sharp sensor's VCTRL pin as EN, which should make it easier to understand the Timing Chart and see how the sensor responds to its EN pin being toggled.

    By the way, if you have many detailed questions about one of the sensors we carry, we prefer to that you start a thread on our forum, which is a better venue to search through, and start a discussion on details like the ones you asked about.

    We do not expect those sensors to work well with a source that cannot supply the amount of current they need to draw when they pulse. In general, if you do not follow the specifications for electronics, you should not expect them to work reliably.

    However, in this particular case (since your supply can output close to the current the sensor wants to draw) if you cannot use a source that can provide more current, you could probably still use the sensor with a large capacitor (>10 uF) between power and ground near the sensor board.

    Hello.

    Like the datasheet says, those Sharp distance sensors draw current in bursts. So, when supplied power, the sensor will draw some nominal amount of current until the LED is pulsed and the current drawn increases to more than 300mA briefly. After the pulse, the current decreases again to the nominal amount. The average current draw of the sensor (which is the average of the nominal and pulse currents) is, like you noticed, described as typically 33mA, and at max a value of 50mA. The carrier board does not add hardware that changes this current draw noticeably.

    Hello.

    Congratulations on winning that tournament!

    A few of us here are using the 15cm Sharp sensors on our mini-sumo robots, and they do not seem to be noticeably better or worse than the 10cm versions at detecting objects that do not reflect IR very well. If you want to look into this more, can you post the details of how you are using and comparing the two sensors on our forum ?
