New product: 130-size, high-power brushed DC motor

    - 9 March 2022

    Hello, Rick.

This is just a blog post; the product page has technical specifications. We do not have a technical drawing available, but it is consistent with the 130-size standard.

37D gearmotors: helical pinion gear, new 150:1 gear ratio, and performance graphs

    - 14 October 2021

    Hello.

There are CAD models (step files) for all of our 37D gearmotors available on their product pages under the "Resources" tab.

What dimensions are you referring to? If you are seeing discrepancies between the dimensions of motors you got from us to what is in our documentation, please send an email to support@pololu.com with your order information along with pictures that show what you are measuring.

New Pololu distance sensors with digital and pulse width outputs

    - 24 February 2021

    Hello, Joseph.

For the sensors with digital outputs all you need your code to do is read a digital input signal. In Arduino, you could do that with a digitalRead() command.

For the pulse width output version, we provided a simple Arduino example program showing how you could read the sensor on its product page.

New products: Magnetic Encoder Pair Kit with JST SH-type Connectors for Micro Metal Gearmotors

    - 5 January 2021

    Hello, Stephano.

There is basic information about the encoders pinout and installation available in the product page description, but we do not have any instructions for use with specific motor controllers. Also, keep in mind that most motor drivers and controllers do not have built-in support for reading encoders, so you might need to use something else to read those signals.

The comments of this blog post are not great for this type of discussion, but if you need additional help you are welcome to send an email to support@pololu.com or make a post on our forum with a description of what you want to do and links to what components you are considering. We might be able to help you assess whether they are compatible and offer some guidance for how to connect them.

  • Force and torque

    Force and torque

    - 10 July 2020

    Hello, Devin.

How much torque your motor needs is going to depend on how fast you want your three pound load to travel that one foot and various details of your specific setup (e.g. the inertia of your conveyor belt pulleys, how much friction there is in your system, etc.). This blog post might help you characterize your system and what you need more precisely, but I would additionally recommend doing some research to find what parts other people have used in similar projects.

  • Sanyo pancake stepper motors with encoders

Sanyo pancake stepper motors with encoders

    - 4 June 2020

    Hello, Jim.

The encoders allows you to measure the stepper motor's output up to a resolution of 4000 CPR, or 0.09 degrees. Actually moving your stepper motor to such precise positions would require you to apply sufficient microstepping properly, with at least a 1/32 microstepping ratio.

    Hello, Ben,

To power your motor without stepping, all you need to do is enable the driver. The comments section of this blog are not a great setting for troubleshooting, so if you require further assistance, you might consider making a post on our forum:

In your post, I recommend you share more details about your setup (like what driver and power supply you are using) along with pictures that show all your connections, your driver, and how you are measuring VREF.

    Hello, Steve.

That might be possible, but we do not have any specific suggestions for how to go about doing that. You might try searching the internet to see if and how other people have done that, or you could also try contacting the SparkFun to see if they have any suggestions.
