This is the standard DC motor found in the GM2, GM3, GM8, and GM9 gear motors from Solarbotics. It comes with an 8-tooth pinion gear, and motor replacement is a snap! The RM3 can even be used to replace the higher-current FA-130 motors in many of the Tamiya gearboxes.
This is the standard DC motor found in the GM2, GM3, GM8, and GM9 gear motors from Solarbotics. It nominally runs at 6 V and consumes roughly 35 mA free running, and roughly 800 mA at stall. If you’ve worn out the motor in the GM2/3/8/9, replacing the gear motor is easy — just remove the motor retainer strap, press the included pinion gear onto the new motor shaft, and reinstall — that’s it! Specifications
Controlling the RM3 motorThe RM3 motor is great for use with our Micro Dual Serial Motor Controller, Orangutan Robot Controller, and Baby Orangutan Robot Controller:
Use the RM3 motors in the Tamiya gearboxes! The RM3 motors are not as electrically noisy and draw much less current than the FA-130 motors used in many of the Tamiya gearboxes. The two motors are the same size, so if you would like to use our Micro Dual Serial Motor Controller, Orangutan Robot Controller, or Baby Orangutan Robot Controller with the Tamiya gearboxes, you can simply replace the original Tamiya motors with the RM3 and you’ll be set! (Tamiya gearboxes that work with the RM3 include the popular 70168 Double Gearbox and 70097 Twin-Motor Gearbox.) |
