The
OWI Jungle Robot is an excellent beginner-level robot kit that you can build in two ways: you can make a robotic orangutan that
climbs a rope, hand-over-hand, or you can build a robotic gorilla that walks on two arms. The robotic ape starts climbing or walking
when its sound sensor detects a loud sound. By building the jungle robot,
you will explore two interesting ways to create linear
motion from rotating motion, learn about sensors and gearboxes,
and get an introduction to basic electronic components. Once you finish buildling, you will have a robot that charms people of all ages with is ape-like motions.
The
OWI Jungle Robot kit includes all the parts you need to put it together, including a pre-soldered circuit board, a DC motor, and high-quality,
durable plastic parts that snap and screw together nicely. The illustrated
instruction booklet includes schematic diagrams, easy-to-follow assembly instructions,
some information about robots, and general tips that are applicable to assembling any electronics or robotics kit. With only a
screwdriver and
wire cutters, two AA alkaline batteries, and a little time, you can have your very own climbing, walking, robot!
Note: The OWI-9870 Jungle Robot is a kit;
assembly is required. Two AA alkaline batteries are required but
not included.
